April Happenings
What we are learning:
-Writing 2 or more sentences using sight words and sounding out words
-Writing about real stories
-Practicing skills that good readers do: retelling the story, wondering about the story, visualizing the story, making connections to the story
-Identifying nonfiction story elements (table of contents, glossary, diagrams, index, etc.)
-Listening to our classmates and looking at the speaker when they are talking
-Reading independently for 20 minutes using our books in our book baggies (including nonfiction)
-Continuing our SIPPs small group phonics program and beginning guided reading groups
-Daily Reading Centers - journal writing, word building, responding to a story, reading with a partner, practicing sight words
-Identifying rhyming words
-Fact Fluency for addition & subtraction to 5
-Sorting & Classifying Objects
-Counting to 100 and identifying numbers to 100
-Science topic - Chick life cycle, Spring
-Social Studies topic - How can I help take care of the world?
-Other Special topics - Disabilities Awareness, Earth Day
