School Nurse
Welcome to Marlboro Elementary School Nurse Information
A little bit about me...
My name is Ms. Conover or Nurse Kristi. 2026-2027 will be my fourth year as the school nurse at Marlboro Elementary and I love it! Prior to becoming a school nurse, I worked at Monmouth Medical Center in the postpartum unit, taking care of new mothers and newborn babies. I earned my Bachelors in Nursing and my School Nurse Certification from Rutgers University.
I have 2 children, in 10th grade and 7th grade this year. My husband is a middle school special education teacher. We live in Old Bridge with our 2 cats, Ash and Riker.
This year I will see your children for the following routine screenings...
Height, weight, and blood pressure are completed annually for all students. For students in kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 4th grades, a vision screening is also completed. Hearing screenings are done for grades K-3. Scoliosis screenings are completed in grade 5. I will send home a note if any referrals are recommended.
If you would like to opt your child out of routine health screenings, please notify me in writing.
My office is open throughout the school day. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns via email at [email protected] or by phone at (732) 972-2095 (ext. 3). If I am unable to answer your phone call immediately, please leave a message on my voicemail, and I will return your call as soon as possible.
Thank you and best wishes for a wonderful school year!
Ms. Kristi Conover, BSN, RN, CSN
Guidelines for keeping children home from school for illness and injury:
I have a fever of 100.0 F or greater--
Cannot return to school until fever-free for 24 hours without the use of medication (ex. Tylenol, Motrin, Advil).
I vomited, one or more times in the past 24 hours--
Cannot return to school until free from vomiting for 24 hours.
I have diarrhea--
Cannot return to school until free from diarrhea for 24 hours.
I have a rash, on my body with fever or itching--
Require a doctor's note permitting to return.
I have head lice/nits--
- Students with nits may remain in school, but should be treated at home
- Students with live bugs in his/her head will be picked up to be treated
- We will not be routinely checking the entire class; nurse will check students who specifically are noted to have head-to-head contact with a known case
- Notification will be sent to classroom after first case of lice is diagnosed (in 4th-8th grades will be sent to all classes that student is in)
I have an eye infection (the white part of the eye is pink and drainage is coming from the eye)--
To return to school the child must have clear eyes that are not draining. If the child has bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye), 24 hours of treatment must be completed accompanied by a doctor's note.
I have a sore throat possibly accompanied by fever--
The child must be fever free without the assistance of temperature reducing medication for 24 hours.
I have been diagnosed with strep throat or scarlet fever (red, sore throat with patches on tonsils, swollen glands, fever and/or rash)--
Must be fever free without the assistance of fever reducing medication. Must complete treatment for at least 24 hours. Must be accompanied by a doctor's note.
I was in the hospital or went to the emergency room--
A copy of discharge instructions and/or a doctor's note permitting me to return to class that includes any special school restrictions.
I have an injury--
If your child is wearing/using: cast, crutches, brace, ace bandage, splint, stitches, or any other medical device, please notify me prior to the child coming to school. Your child must have a doctor's note to wear this. Any injury that requires this will prohibit participation in gym and recess. Please make sure you contact your doctor for a note stating when they can return to gym and recess. This is for the safety of your child and the other students around them.
