Marlboro Township Gifted and Talented Program

Marlboro Township Public Schools offer an array of G&T programs that are needs-based and designed for “those exceptionally able students who, when compared to their chronological peers, possess or demonstrate high levels of ability in one or more content areas.”

The G&T programs have been carefully crafted to provide "additional and appropriate educational challenges and opportunities to meet the needs" of our student population.

District G&T Goals

  • To challenge gifted and talented students who demonstrate a need for rigor beyond the regular curriculum for their grade level.
  • To provide an environment that encourages the development of critical thinking skills such as analysis, evaluation, synthesis, and complex problem-solving strategies.
  • To provide an environment that encourages divergent thinking and supports the development of originality, fluency, flexibility, and elaboration.
  • To develop confidence in expressing ideas in discussions, debates, expository writing, and creative writing.
  • To advance the process of inquiry through the application of skills in investigations of real-life problems and research.
  • To provide students with opportunities to develop leadership skills through positive group interaction.
  • To encourage a lifelong commitment to independent learning.

A G&T Student's Academic Responsibility

The Marlboro G&T Programs are designed as "pull-out" classes in which students leave their previously scheduled academic class to attend a G&T class during the school day.  Students who are participating in G&T programming are held responsible for any concepts or skills that are taught in their previously scheduled academic class.  In addition, a G&T student is expected to make up any missed work or assignments deemed necessary by the classroom teacher whose class they are missing.
