"The Scaglione Scoop" newsletter is a quick resource that periodically highlights what we've been learning in Mrs. Scaglione's classes, what we will be learning soon, and other important information for parents.  Check back often!
WHAT'S THE CURRENT SCOOP?

We've begun following our regular schedule, and the kids have done a great job switching to all of their teachers!

In ELA, we've been learning about different types of sentences, identifying them, and writing them with correct punctuation.  We've also reviewed story elements and practiced identifying them with real books in class.  We've learned the expectations for using the RACE structure to answer open-ended questions and are practicing using real stories. We've taken our Achieve Level Set assessments to identify our beginning of the year Lexile levels and have begun reading our assigned Achieve 3000 articles.  The Achieve Articles of the month can be found assigned on Google Classroom.

In homeroom, the kids have had a chance to visit all of their related arts classes and we've even had a first Spanish lesson of their year! We've also learned the procedures for using FLEX time effectively to accomplish our independent work. We've learned the procedures for IDR time and how to navigate our classroom library.

Across the grade level, we're hoping that the kids are beginning good habits like writing their homework correctly in their trackers and picking a time and place that works for your family to accomplish homework assignments. In addition to the tracker, all assignments can be found listed under each teacher's "Daily Agenda" on their Google Classroom. My students' assignments can also be found on the calendar under the "homework" tab on my Mar El Teacher Page.

We've accomplished so much in so little time! Way to go 4th graders!

PREVIOUS SCOOPS:

Back to School Scoop:

It's the beginning of the school year!  We'll be doing lots of fun activities throughout the next couple of weeks to learn about our schedule, meet our teachers and classmates, and practice positive routines.

Be prepared!  Please make sure that you have purchased a supply kit through school, or have purchased the items from the fourth grade supply list (found on the Marlboro Elementary School webpage).  Important: Every student MUST have a pair of headphones.  If you've ordered your supplies through the PTO, your child will receive them on the first day of school.  We’re looking forward to a great year together!
